Friday, we meet again.
After weeks that seem like months and years, we are in March. That’s wild to me. How is it March already?
I like March for a few reasons. The weather changes. The wintery months seem to pass, although southern Ilinois weather is really crazy, so we could probably have a lot more rain or maybe even snow sometimes. But, today the sun is shining in Carterville, so I’ll take it.
High School Softball.
We have a high school softball player in the house! How exciting?! The Carterville Lady Lions will begin their season very soon. We look forward to cheering them on at their home and away games. We might be partial to one player in particular, but we are very excited for this softball season to begin.
Spring break.
Once upon a time, this was a break from school and a possible trip to a beach. Now I look forward to spring break because I get to attend a conference.
Yep. You read that correctly. I am attending a conference on spring break.
During spring break we will be in Kanas City, Missouri. I am excited about it for a few reasons. 1. I get to have a little mini-vacation with Sam. We are in need of a break from the regular day-to-day. (You know that song, “Vacation all I ever wanted…) 2. I am presenting with some amazing colleagues and friends on a subject that is very near and dear to my heart–this very blog and what it means to me to be a caregiver/military spouse. 3. Food. We love trying new places (so if you live near or in the KC area, help us out). 4. I will be participating in a workshop during the conference where I hope to connect with other military families and make new friends (who may be interesting in blogging and sharing their story). 5. We are camping!!!
March Madness.
If you follow college basketball you may know there’s some drama (more than usual) about certain players, teams, coaches, I could go on and on…but if you really want to understand some of the issues, for a Duke guy, Jay Bilas is on point, in my opinion.
Plus, the tournament games are super fun to watch (if you like college basketball). There’s something about rooting for an underdog, and the teams who make it to the tournament for the first time…and “One Shining Moment” gets me every.time.
March is a new month, which signals new beginnings. New days and weeks to try something new, to indulge in self-care, to take a vacation, a weekend road trip…you name it, you could do it.
Here’s to March. And all the new, fun, exciting things.
This! Coming to Kansas City! So honored to be part of this event. ❤️
