Have you ever felt stuck in a rut? I know I have. I have tried to get myself on the “resolution train” every new year, but it seems like I can’t stick with a whole year.
The top things that come to mind are always diets…watching what you eat, dieting for this, that, or the other. Working out is another one that comes to mind. I wonder how many folks purchase gym memberships at the beginning of each new year…
Well, this TED Talk (I really, really want to do that one day) popped up and it occurred to me that trying something new for 30 days might be easier than actually *telling* myself I am going to commit to a diet, workout, or new lifestyle for a whole year and not really doing it…
It is really simple.
Instead of a whole list of New Year’s resolutions, try something new for 30 days…and you know what…at the end of those 30 days it may stick!
You could also go 30 days without something (sugar, alcohol, soda, etc..) and see the results of that, too.
Matt Cutts talks about trying new things, and how we can incorporate something simple into our lives. Add a new habit, subtract a habit–and challenge yourself.
You can watch the video here, then think about what memories you can make each month! Remember, it is all about the memories!

I don’t know that I could write 60,000 words a day, I like to sleep, but I like writing too, so if a goal seems too big, too much, try shortening it, or just trying it for the 30 days.
Making small changes is good–it can be helpful, and it can stick!
What are we waiting for??? Let’s try something new!
I’ll keep you posted on what I will be doing for the next 30 days. You can try something with me, or not, but don’t be afraid to set a small goal, and go for it!
