Case of the Monday Blues…

January 22, 2018 by Cathrine Hoekstra

If you walked into the Hoekstra home this morning you would have noticed the following (in no particular order)…

  1. Everyone slept in…which meant that we were running a little behind.
  2. The dogs did a fantastic job of tracking in mud/water from being outside, so you can’t even tell that the kitchen and dining area was mopped over the weekend.
  3. No one wanted to go to work or school. Maybe we were stalling?
  4. It took forever for lunches to get packed…and I nearly left mine.
  5. Memphis was sad because his favorite human debated on taking him to work.
  6. Sam was sad because he worried about all the rain and taking Memphis to work.
  7. Caden had a little anxiety about school, but we had the tools (challenge coin, note, and list of things that make him happy).
  8. I thought about changing clothes at least twice so I wouldn’t sweat in my office.
  9. Sam was feeling a little down, despite not really “feeling it,” he left for work determined to have a good day.
  10. We all wanted to crawl back in bed…

Despite all of that, and a puny kid who might be on the mend…Monday isn’t turning out to be so bad. We are going to have a family dinner, or should I say,  brenner (breakfast for dinner), maybe catch a movie, and relax, enjoying one another’s company. I’d say that would make any case of the Monday’s go away…
