Today marks one year that I began to blog. Believe me when I say it has been an incredible year of writing.
One year down of a journey that is a long, twisty road with bumps, good days, bad days, crying spells, laughter, and a whole lot of love.
I started writing because I felt like the public needed to know about the ups and downs (or life) with a service dog and Veteran. Sam had been home with Memphis since April of 2016, and in November of 2016 I just decided that I was going to write a blog.
I had no idea how to do that.
Writing a blog was always a thought, I never really gave the topic/content much thought until I started tracking things we would hear in conversation, questions Sam would be asked, and then it seemed like the perfect idea…a blog about a Veteran and dog.
I sat down with Sam one evening and told him that I would be interested in writing a blog. We talked about the focus being his journey with Memphis and he agreed. I seriously didn’t know what it meant to be a blogger. I read blogs from time to time, but I knew deep down that I wanted to write a blog.
I pulled out my laptop and typed these very words into Google…
“How to start a blog”
The results were endless (or so it seemed). I started out with Blogger as the platform since it was one of the first results, and it seemed easy. I had a Gmail account, so, how hard could it be?
The writing seemed to come naturally at times, it was easy to type out my feelings. Other times it was really hard to make sure that I had emotions in check, and when that failed me, I ugly cried at my computer.
And then one day, I was blessed with this beautiful website. The little blog search that began one evening on my couch has come a long way…
So, in honor of the year of the blog, I have decided to share some of my favorite posts. I have truly enjoyed sharing our journey with you all. I hope that you continue to read, go on this journey “with” us, and share our story with others.

I think that is enough to get you through today. š I will share some more of my favorite things that I’ve posted about over the rest of the week. The holidays left me in a daze, a food coma, if you will. I hope you enjoy these as much as I have enjoyed sharing these (even as difficult as they were to write).
Thank you for reading, and thank you for being part of our journey.
