Mountains

August 2, 2017 by Cathrine Hoekstra

Today’s blog post comes to you all the way from 10,000 feet elevation, or the Cripple Creek KOA (just think of how awesome that would read if the K were a C in this case).

The Cripple Creek KOA is the highest KOA in the nation. And, for only $22, you can get a hoodie that says that too.

Yesterday’s drive tested me big time. I have a tendency to get a little woozy in the car, and grading and reading essays just wasn’t in the cards. I can’t even read a book “for fun.” Toss in driving through a downtown area, pulling a 30 foot camper, inclines, sudden stops, and a guard rail on one side of the road while mountains were on the other.

I might have looked green, like this emoji ? but I couldn’t even look in the mirror. At one point Sam said, “hey, look out your window and take a picture.”

Yeah, right.

I know at that point I was just holding my phone up with the camera open. Not even looking at what I was taking a picture of.

The KOA is nice.

When we pulled in, I had the image of me climbing out of the truck, kissing the ground, and never wanting to go on the route we took again. Mountains + Camper = Nervous Cathrine.

Today we are off for an adventure. I’m prepared for the drive through mountains, I think.
