The Internet Made Me Cry

June 8, 2017 by Cathrine Hoekstra

Have you ever found something online that makes you cry? It could be a “feel good” story, a picture, a video, a song…a moving post or story from Facebook or another social media site…

I found that last night.

And it was full on ugly.cry.

You see, sometimes, when you least expect it, a story can move you. Yesterday was a long day for me (and today is going to be no different). I was worn out, tired, thinking about all the things I had to do the rest of this week, and then I started scrolling through Facebook.

I’m not sure if you watch the show “America’s Got Talent” or not, but you should watch this clip I am going to share. The story is simply amazing, and you’ll be moved. Heck, you may even ugly cry (and that’s okay…unless you are at work–and then I’m sorry about that).

I created a group, or page, on Facebook called Walking with Memphis, and I shared this post there last night. I was so moved by the story that I could not stop crying.

For some reason this really hit me in all the feels. Hard.

We all have moments of wanting to give up. I’ve felt like quitting might the be best (or only) option at times…but that’s not right. I push through.

We have moments where we want to throw in the towel—we aren’t seeing the results we want, we aren’t satisfied with our job, our normal, every day routine is just unbearable. We move on.

We should all strive to be more like Mandy Harvey…

“I want to do more with my life than just give up.”

I want to do more, how about you?

Sometimes the internet makes you cry…and it is a good cry…and you get a little perspective on life. <3
