What if you woke up and thought, “I will be open to all the good things that will happen today.”
What if you woke up and thought, “No matter what, today is going to be a good day.”
Those simple phrases may have something going for them—while it might be easy to fall into the trap of “oh man, today I have so much to do, it is going to suck” or “there aren’t enough hours in the day” (guilty, right here), having an open mind to all the endless possibilities of GOOD can really make a difference in your day.
There’s so much wrong in our society—it is wrong that I live in a state that has NO budget. It is wrong that a Senate Bill was passed which “provides that a restaurant shall not label a menu item as containing catfish unless the item contains catfish” (that PASSED, you guys).
Celebrities shouldn’t get so much media attention for being dumb.
We shouldn’t stress so much over the things we cannot control.
You should be able to ride a train and feel safe.
Do you see where I am going? Despite the senseless and wild happenings of our world, we can choose good. We can choose to be happy. We can choose to brighten someone’s day.
One of the greatest joys in my relationship with Sam is that despite all the negative things that sometimes surround us, we find the good…it could be something as small as a fountain soda, a hug, a silly joke–but those little moments are good.
I love this saying:
Every day may not be good, but there is something good in every day.
Put that on repeat, okay?
We were all born to be real, not perfect. We work for a cause, not for applause, and we live to express not to impress. There’s always time to be thankful for what we have, and you can always, always believe that something wonderful can happen.
Last night I was so tired. It was a l o n g T u e s d a y. I had a few things to do around the house, and the minute I started to worry, that’s when Sam stepped in and said, “how can I help?” and “what can I do?”
Memphis even wanted to help!
Team–it takes a village at times, and I know for us, we work better together.
So, no matter what Wednesday tries to throw at you, just remember you can be open to all the good things that will happen today.
Memphis truly sees the good in every.single.day. If only we could have attitudes like that–where no matter where we are, who we see, we are genuinely happy and loved (all.the.time). <3
