Tuesday Morning Hit Me in All the Feels…

April 18, 2017 by Cathrine Hoekstra

If you watch the news on occasion like I do, you may have noticed that the Boston Marathon is taking place. While it was tragic not that long ago, there is an image that gave me goosebumps and made me really appreciate the efforts of those who prepare and train for a marthon. I also appreciate the efforts of the men and women who have served and are currently serving our country.

You may have noticed that there was a Marine who lost his leg in Afghanistan that was running the Boston Marathon with the American flag.

Staff Seragent Jose Luis Sanchez, a retired Marine, lost part of his lower left leg stepping on an IED in Afghanistan in 2011.

You can read the story here:

I was so moved, not just by the images, but the story as well.

We must do our part (as civilians, supporters of Veterans) to remember their fight, their struggle, their war.

Stories matter, dear ones. Stories can save us. Stories and remembering can heal–I see this on Monday mornings at our Veteran writing group.
