This morning we were up early. So early my brain wasn’t sure what was going on just yet.
When we arrived to Lambert Airport, I was nervous…no lie. We left our vehicle in long-term parking and took the shuttle to the airport.
Our first stop was checking bags, getting boarding passes, and potty breaks…then TSA.
Sam made arrangements with TSA Cares and received a phone call yesterday informing him that he would be set at the first checkpoint. All he needed to do was request his airline assistance agent.
So that’s just what we did.
The TSA agent above, Gerald, made me smile. First thing, he greeted us warmly with a “good morning,” and a smile.
Then he asked if we’d had any coffee yet.
I liked him already.
As we were escorted to an area over by the checkpoint he was kind, telling us to take out any laptops, take our shoes off, and we’d go through as quick as possible. He asked us where we were traveling and even asked us why we wouldn’t go somewhere wth warm temps!
Once we were through, Memphis came over to me (after he was checked), and he was such a champ! He rocked his first check of the day.
Gerald then asked us if we would like an escort to our gate. He showed us the potty area (right beside our gate), complete with fake grass and fire hydrant.
Gerald also told us it was a pleasure meeting us. As cheesy as it sounds, I probably could have cried. What Gerald didn’t know is that pre-Memphis, that TSA check and the thought of flying was the last thing on Sam’s mind.
What Gerald knew, after leaving us, is that I was a grateful traveler, happy wife, and ready for a cup of coffee (we talked a lot about coffee on our walk).
I’m thankful for our smooth transition through security, and for Gerald on this early morning.
If you’ve got some time, send some positive vibes, well wishes, and prayers our way as we continue our travels today.
Next stop…Denver…then Portland.
