I don’t know about you all, but I am glad today is Friday.
I started thinking about all of the good and bad of this week, and wanted to try a new post (you’ll have to let me know what you think, and if you would like to see this again)…so I am going to let you all know about my favorite things of the week.
- This week I taught a new writing concept to two of my classes, and I am excited that the students “got it!” Writing can be a challenge or hard…and this meme was the perfect thought for me as I taught various concepts this week.
2. We had pizza this week for dinner. Quatros, one of our local pizza places and one of my favorites. Did you know on Valentine’s Day you can love pizza AND Veterans? Yep. Show the love on Valentine’s Day for one of our favorite organizations, This Able Veteran, and when you dine in or order online you simply mention or reference This Able Veteran, and 20% of their sales will be donated. That makes my heart happy.
3. Victoria…hello, one of my new favorite shows! I love PBS (and NPR) and have been fortunate to set my DVR to record this new series on Masterpiece. Do you have a favorite show you get to watch either live or on your DVR? This ranks “up there” for me in terms of shows that I love—also, “The Crown” (Netflix), “Downton Abbey” (another one that ran on PBS)…goodness, I could go on.
4. We have a dog hammock for Memphis! Traveling with Memphis is great, but sometimes I do wonder how comfy he might be…we found this little gem at Scott Air Force Base, and I can’t wait for Memphis to use it. If you are interested in a dog hammock, check them out courtesy of Kurgo! https://www.kurgo.com/dog-hammocks/
5. I am reading a book called Ashley’s War: The Untold Story of a Team of Women Soldiers on the Special Ops Battlefield. I’m about halfway through it, and I have to say if you are interested in learning a little bit about what women experience in the military, or the female Veteran narrative, this book might be the one for you–I checked it out at our College library! Maybe you can find a book on military experience at your local library.
6. I was reminded of how the chaos can be something that is okay–not something to stress or get worked up about…little reminders of how lucky and blessed we are. I wrote a post on feeling stuck but finding the joy and happiness in your everyday routine. You can read it here. https://walkingwithmemphis.com/2017/02/stuck-in-the-middle/
7. My heart melted…Sam and Memphis have a bond that just grows and grows daily. We’ve had a rough week, and Memphis senses that. At times, Memphis thinks he is a lap dog…and occasionally when that happens I try to capture a picture. They had no idea that I was trying to get this sweet photo…and boy, am I glad I did.
I hope you all have a great weekend. We are going to rest, catch up on some of our favorite shows, and of course, enjoy the little moments.
