Allow Me to Listroduce Myself…

February 23, 2017 by Cathrine Hoekstra

When I started blogging I did it backward. I picked a free website, I just started writing. I never thought about what my posts should look like, I didn’t think about pictures, memes, graphics, anything pretty—I just wrote what was on my mind and heart. Most of that came about because I would make lists…

Can I get an “Amen!” from all the list makers out there?!

I used an app called li.st to do just that—make a list of things people would ask or say, list things that annoyed me while being out in public, lists about myself, and then I would also follow some of the templates for making a list that the app offered (thank you, B.J. Novak).

So, without further ado…allow me to “Listroduce” myself…

  • My name is Cathrine. Not Catherine, not Kathryn, Cathryn, Katherine, or Cathy. Just Cathrine. C-a-t-h-r-i-n-e.

  • I have a master’s degree in literature and I think it nearly drove me mad trying to complete it. It is one of my favorite moments in life…

  • My kids are my world. They make me laugh constantly (even if they don’t mean to). My family feels so complete now. <3

  • I don’t really like crowds…I don’t like the feeling as if someone is standing so close to me (behind me) that they are breathing down my neck. This makes waiting in line a little awkward at times.
  • I don’t enjoy the construction area on my road/in our subdivision. It is really annoying when I try to work from home.
  • Netflix is my guilty pleasure. I do love a good British T.V. show that I can binge watch–and am always looking for another (suggestions?).
  • Once upon a time, I played college basketball—and sometimes I miss it.
  • My husband is my best friend.

  • I have three tattoos and a nose ring.

  • I love my SUV. I am a Ford Girl.

  • My husband’s service dog, Memphis, is an adorable, amazing furry child. I can’t imagine Sam’s life without him.

  • I teach college composition and I love it. I love working at a two-year college.

  • I’m addicted to iced coffee and sweet tea is a close second.
  • I love to travel. Sam and I love finding college campuses and walking around them.
  • I love planners and being organized…I also love school supplies and pens. Probably a reason why I am a teacher…
  • I love my family. I can’t imagine my life without them.

  • I sometimes have a hard time hiding the emotions on my face…I’m so, so sorry about that.
  • I read a lot of books…and four just came in for me from the library!
  • Potato chips are one of my stress eating snacks…it is a terrible stress food, and I know that.

So, there you have it…that’s a little bit about me…my family…some of my likes/dislikes…all because of an app.

What apps do you love? Any suggestions?? I’d love to hear them!
