Have you ever had to stop, step away, and take a break from something? Maybe it has felt like a “detox” in a way? Not that the holidays are toxic (because that is why one would detox–to rid the body of something toxic or harmful), but maybe you just want things to return to normal (whatever “normal” may be).
The holidays were a little stressful for us. This is common, I think, for most people. Chaos, travel, crowded spaces, little sleep, too much food…but honestly, I felt like Christmas would never end. Memphis was a champ, though, and he even got a few presents too!
Memphis saw a lot of our relatives. He wore a New Year’s party hat (and hated it, I’m almost positive), and helped Sam enjoy the festivities (despite being constantly on the go). I think that he might have needed a break–or a detox in a sense.
Between our families, we had four Christmases. Presents exchanged on Christmas Eve, presents on Christmas Day, presents the day after Christmas, and presents on New Year’s Eve. Whew. Not to mention all of the food…holy moly. That makes me a little tired just thinking about it all.
However, despite the travel, the hustle and bustle, and stress, it was a good holiday. I admit I was ready for my tree to come down the day after, but it was a beautiful real tree! So many things have changed in a year…and it seemed like I blinked and now it is 2017.
Sometimes at the beginning of a new year, people will make resolutions–or maybe start a detox by dieting, exercising, drinking more water, whatever it may be, but, sometimes people forget those resolutions and don’t “stick” to them.
Do you have any resolutions for the new year? Have you made a list of “to do’s” for 2017? Maybe you’ve made some goals you’d like to achieve. I know I have a list of items I would like to accomplish and of course, things I want to work on (like my own health–that whole workout and eating clean business).
One of my resolutions is to work on making this blog an interesting and informative place to visit. Another is to be a better listener. I have a list of things to do in terms of being more healthy—eating clean and working out more. And of course, another resolution is to be a good wife and mother.
Now that the holidays are over, I hope you can detox, or take a break and start fresh with a new year. I hope the start of 2017 has been successful for you and yours. I continue to count my blessings.
