Hello, 2019!!
We have enjoyed our holiday season. It was nice to visit with family and friends, and enjoy the holiday festivities with our kiddos (human and furry).
As we move into 2019, the Hoekstra’s have a lot going on (as usual). It is easy to get caught up in the hustle, bustle, and stress of a new year, but we see it as a new beginning, a fresh start, and clean slate.
We will soon have a teenager in the house. Our daughter will turn 16 this month (and she and I have the same birthday…but I won’t budge on my age). I can’t believe she will be a licensed driver soon. (#timeslowdown)
I will begin another semester with John A. Logan College. This semester I am blessed to be an online instructor. I feel this is a huge relief as I had some serious morning (let’s be real, all day sickness) sickness in the fall. I am in the process of prepping and planning for those courses this weekend.
Sam will begin his last semester of graduate school. This is HUGE and I am so proud of him for sticking through this degree program. He has overcome a lot in and out of the classroom, and this is a major accomplishment. One. More. Class. I know he’s pretty excited about that.
Of course, we are all very excited about Baby H. We are in the process of planning a nursery and working on staying healthy. It is also exciting because we had our first Christmas in our new home. Moving in the middle of a semester is not ideal, but we made it work! We are still unpacking, but we are loving our new home and we can’t wait to make more memories.
As we move into a new year, I hope you find yourselves pacing yourselves. Making the most of every moment, being present in those moments, and taking time to enjoy the ones around you. If I’ve learned anything over the last year, it is that I find myself enjoying the time I spend with family and friends more than anything. I love a good conversation, a few belly laughs over a good meal, and being around the ones I love. I know that in 2019 I am going to make the most of it and just enjoy the moments and the people in my life.
Happy New Year!
